Semantic Graph & Ontology Architect (m/f/d)

For our client, we are looking for a Semantic Graph & Ontology Architect (m/w/d).

Project objective: Building a scalable semantic graph architecture as the foundation of an enterprise-wide smart data fabric for AI-driven data integration and processing.

Project tasks:

• Design and implement scalable graph schemas (LPG and/or RDF/OWL) as the semantic foundation of an enterprise-wide smart data fabric.
• Develop and optimize query logic (Cypher, Gremlin, SPARQL) for multi-hop traversals, orchestration, and complex reasoning workflows.
• Create and refine formal ontologies and taxonomies, including versioning, lifecycle governance, and semantic consistency validation.
• Design a hybrid semantic layer combining graph context with business logic, RBAC/RACI structures, and embedded compliance and auditability rules.
• Define clean API layers for semantic enrichment and retrieval and specify MCP-based tool discovery and invocation patterns for AI agent connectivity.

Knowledge and professional qualifications:

• Strong expertise in graph databases with 7 to 12 years of practical experience with Neo4j, AWS Neptune, TigerGraph, or Stardog, including at least one technology used in a production environment.
• Deep proficiency in Cypher, Gremlin, and SPARQL as well as a strong understanding of the practical trade-offs between LPG and RDF/OWL.
• Proven experience in ontology engineering with common tools such as Protégé as well as SHACL/SWRL, reasoning engines, and enterprise knowledge graphs supporting auditable workflows.
• Practical experience in mapping heterogeneous data sources such as Snowflake, MongoDB, SharePoint, and ERP systems into graph and ontology layers.
• Solid understanding of data governance, lineage, RBAC/RACI controls, and practical familiarity with AWS services such as IAM, VPC, S3, and EKS/Lambda.
